Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer Sir Harry Burns is an ardent advocate for early years interventions and has spoken often about the devastating consequences of health inequalities in Scotland. His lecture focused on the circumstances that have caused a relative decline in Scotland’s health over the past 40 years and the resultant increases in offending behaviour.  His lecture highlighted the ways in which health and wellbeing can be created thereby offering opportunities for Scotland to transform itself.
