'On the Outside' film screening and discussion
The stories of four females who had previously served sentences at HMPYOI Polmont have been brought to life through this powerful new short film.
Filmed over five days in Edinburgh and South Queensferry earlier this year and set in a car journey over one day, the four actors use speech and song to reflect on their lives so far, the decisions they made which saw them imprisoned, and what the future may hold for them and their families.
Directed by Paul Gray, programme leader for BA (Hons) Film at Edinburgh Napier University, and produced by Nasreen Saraei, a recent graduate from Edinburgh Napier’s BA (Hons) Film course, 'On The Outside' is the result of an innovative partnership between Paul, Fife College and Scottish Prison Service (SPS).
The 45 minute film showing will be followed by a Q&A session with participants in the making of the film, along with a leading criminologist with expertise in the field of women and art in prison.
